Important upcoming WordPress changes on CMS

Over the course of the next few weeks we will be going through some fairly large updates for WordPress plugins and themes on the CMS platform. Naturally, we’ll be taking backups as we go. This sort of procedure happens frequently, normally without you knowing. On this occasion, there are several large updates that need to happen concurrently.

One of those updates is to the GravityForms plugin.

The update from 1.7 (what we’re currently running) to the most recent version 1.8.* is a large one. Specifically, it changes the way data is stored in the database. The team behind gravity forms have written a solid upgrade mechanism, but sometimes issues occur and we want to ensure that you have a backup of your data, just in case.

Please make a backup of your gravity forms forms and entries. (Instructions on how to do this are below)

We will be putting the updates into production early next week (week commencing 11th August) so please perform your backups this week.

In order to perform an export of your entries and forms;

Forms

  • Log in to your WordPress dashboard
  • Click ‘Forms’ and then click ‘Import/Export’
  • Click ‘Export Forms’
  • Select all of your forms by checking off the box next to each form
  • Click ‘Download Export File’

Entries

  • Log in to your WordPress dashboard
  • Click ‘Forms’ and then click ‘Import/Export’
  • If it is not already selected, click ‘Export Entries’

Then for each of your forms;

  • Select the form from the dropdown
  • Click ‘Select All’ when the ‘Select Fields’ is shown after selecting the form
  • Click ‘Download Export File’

Save each of these files in a secure location. You may need them in the future.

Thank you for your cooperation and we hope you’re having a wonderful summer.
