WP Block Extension – Link from CF
We recognize that there are situations where you may prefer not to have users directed to the post page when clicking on the title within a Query Loop block. Instead, you might want them to be redirected to an external page. Here, at CTLT (Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Technology), we’ve created a WordPress block extension that gives users the capability to effortlessly link a post title or a button to a URL stored within a custom field. This enhancement offers greater flexibility to the Query Loop block.

Within the Title block, we’ve introduced a feature within the Link Settings panel known as Enable link to custom field. Once activated, you gain the flexibility to select from a range of meta keys. Choose one of the meta keys that contain the URL to which you wish to direct users when they interact with the title block.
In the Button (Singular) block, we’ve implemented several settings within the Link Settings panel. Enabling Link to Post will override any entered URL for the button and direct users to the single post page. On the other hand, enabling Link to Custom Field will ensure users are redirected to the specified URL (based on the value of the custom field you choose), regardless of the URL entered for the button itself.
How to use the extension on UBC CMS?
Navigate to your site’s Dashboard on UBC CMS and go to Plugins. Search for WP Block Extension – Link from CF and activate the plugin. The functionalities are automatically added to every single Query Loop block on your site.
